A rare opportunity for personal growth
As well as working with individuals and families, Safari Sun assists schools with trips to Sub-Saharan Africa. Whether cultural, geographical or sport related, our itineraries reflect the current curriculum and are designed to enhance the students’ education. Africa is the perfect destination for a school trip. Not only does it offer abundant wildlife and awe-inspiring scenery but it is home to the friendliest people you’re ever likely to meet. It can be a humbling and exciting experience and most youngsters return with a new confidence, ready to take on whatever life throws at them.
We give students the opportunity to attend Afri-Twin schools and work on joint projects. There are a number of tribes who will welcome them into their homes, offering an insight into African village life. They can try their hand at tie-dying or making necklaces and bracelets from beads of recycled glass. Other educational activities include visiting a fair trade plantation or an old slave trading fort.
Combining education with adventure
The unique topography of Africa will stun geography students with its natural wonders. The Skeleton Coast of Namibia or the Valley of 1,000 Hills in South Africa are just two examples. History students can walk in the footsteps of famous military strategists on the battlefields of KwaZulu Natal, while students of all disciplines can enjoy bush walking or a rainforest tour. The land boasts so many historical and natural attractions.
Learning aside, there is ample time for fun and relaxation. From Zulu dancing to crab hunting, the resorts offer plenty of activities to keep students occupied. Many have fenced lagoons or their own private beaches, where they can go swimming, kayaking and wind surfing. Alternatively they can stay within the complex playing pool, volleyball and table tennis.
At Safari Sun we pride ourselves on responsible school travel. The trips we organise are both affordable and safe. Each group has a dedicated guide for their entire stay, a private coach and driver. The accommodation we recommend is with family run resorts, offering 24 hour security. They’re used to dealing with fussy eaters and meeting the dietary requirements of tricky teenagers. Rest assured that everyone in our care will be nourished, nurtured and kept safe; indeed they’ll be looked after in the same way that they would at home.
Africa offers the opportunity of a lifetime. If you’re interested in a one-off trip or an ongoing exchange with a like-minded school, we can help. There are even free places available for teachers.
